Book Review...AGAIN!

Okay, now that I have actually finished the Great and the Terrible series (whats out of it, anyway), I can officially say that it is WONDERFUL!! I finished From the End of Heaven last night and I am going through withdrawals...it's always a little depressing, in a way, when you finish a good book because you miss reading it so much. They introduce a couple new characters in this one and in the beginning I was a little agitated because I wanted it to only be about the main characters you've followed the whole series, but after reading more about them I have fallen in love with those characters too! It was such an amazing book (all of them were, but especially that one and the 4th one, Fury and Light)! What an eye opener! Gives you a sense of the harsh realities (kinda scary actually) but it also makes you feel a sense of your Heavenly Father's love for you and your important place in this earth and His plan! It gives you a sense of such strength! And the last one, Clear as the Moon, comes out October 3rd. It can't come soon enough because the last one just kind of left me hangin'!!
Anyway...I will stop about that. I just strongly recommend them to any member of the church who wants not only an entertaining read, but loves the feel goods!

Just Some Pictures...

I just wanted to post a few pictures. This first one is of Sam playing at his new Thomas train table that the Johnson's so wonderfully gave us! It was an awesome gift and Sam absolutely loves it! He carries the trains around with him everywhere!

This one is just a cute one of him making a silly smile...

This was last night when he was reading his Book of Mormon Numbers book. He LOVES numbers and letters and he likes to go through each page, point to each one, and have us say what they are. He just learned how to say the numbers 1-10, except for some reason he cant say 1, 6, or 7. He knows what order they go in and everything! If you want to see a video of him doing this, go to this link.

These next two are from this morning. After I bathed him I didn't dry off his hair right away like usual. It dried on it's own and it ended up being so cute and curlier than ever! I love it!

This last one is of him trying to help mama sweep the floor! I love my son!

He is talking so much more now and it is becoming easier and easier to communicate with him. He can say two words together now, like "read book," and he says juice (though it sounds like "jew") and he can say milk (though it sounds like a weird "ne-a" sound...I guess moms can decipher their own kids language...). It's just nice now because he can tell me most of the time what he wants! I love being a mom!

One more picture...

Cindi just sent me this other picture of Aaron and I had to post it because he is just sooo cute and perfect! Doesn't he look so much like Braxton?!

Sam has a new cousin!!

We have an addition to the Coltharp clan! Cindi, my little sister, had her baby last night at about 10:40pm!! Aaron Kenneth Lindsay weighed 6 lbs. 6 oz...which is huge for her only being 36 weeks! Even though she had him early he is doing great! He has to be on oxygen for a little while because he had fluid in his lungs, but he was recovering so rapidly that hopefully by this afternoon or tonight they can take him off and he can return to his mommy and daddy who miss him so much! Here are a couple more pictures of him...

Another Book Review...

I just wanted to quickly comment on the book I just finished reading, Where Angels Fall, the second volume in the Great and the Terrible series. First of all, I have neevr balled so hard from a book (besides the Book of Mormon, of course)! The first one, the Brothers, was absolutely amazing, but I didn't even cry as hard in that one!

This one was a bit slow moving at first, but it ended up being one of my favorite books I've ever read! It was so good and heart-wrenchingly sad, and just brings you, again, to the realization that our Heavenly Father does love us and is here for us, no matter how horrible the lot we have been delt is!

I am so excited to start on the third book, the Second Sun, tonight. I definitely recommend them to everyone!

Weird Intruders...

So, I just had to post about something weird that happened in our backyard last night. To anyone in Bagdad, this is common, but I have never seen anything like it before! Apparently, Havilena (spelling??), some breed of a wild bore, are pretty previlant in this area and we had heard that the whole reason the person that lived here before us put up the fence was to keep them out from eating from his apricot tree, but we had never seen them.

Anyway, last night we were going to bed and I heard something in the backyard through our window and it scared me so I told Dave there was someone back there, and when we turned on the porch light and looked out the sliding glass door we saw a bunch (at least 8) of them walking around in our yard and scavenging for food! It was crazy! I never thought I'd see any form of wild pig...in my yard!

Dave didn't want them to ruin our grass or eat the apricots so he grabbed a big shovel and tried chasing them out of our yard, which took like 10 minutes! They didn't go out the same way they came in (through the big space in the fence that Dave still hasn't fixed)...instead they went under the fence! They had to of pushed the bottom of it up pretty good because they were huge!

I tried to get a picture of it, but by the time I thought of a picture and got my camera the only ones left in the yard was a huge mom and her baby. And it was dark so the pictures didn't really turn out, but the first one is of the mama's butt and tail as it was running back to the baby and the second one is the mama and the baby cowering (you can see glowing eyes on the other side of the fence where the others were waiting).

Anyway...probably not a big deal...especially to you Christa, but I thought it was pretty odd! In fact, it kind of scared me a little! Haha!

Finally an update!

I hadn't posted in a while so I thought I would to let everyone know we're fine...it's just that there hasn't been much going on lately to post about. Life has been just the same old same old...and that's fine by me! :)

I noticed I don't post nearly a fraction of what I used to on Sam updates...it seems like once they get to a certain point and they have learned so much, they are catching up and doing new things every day so I can't really keep track of them all! But he is so much fun! His new favorite word is "no" and says it all the time...and "good bye" or "bye bye"....but that's just scratching the surface. He says a ton of words and it's nice that he is starting to understand me when I ask him questions and things. He had been really cranky lately and it's because we noticed he's finally getting his 7th tooth...after all this time! Maybe it will be like the first time and they'll all come in at once. The only downfall with the fact that he is in the toddler stage now is that he is the PICKIEST eater! I always thought I would be able to prevent that by starting to give him anything and everything from the time he was very young and that worked for a while...he used to eat EVERYTHING! And now he is so specific that it totally depends on what he is in the mood for and most of the time I waste foods that I make because he wont eat it. So it's a guessing game each day at lunch when I have to try and figure out what he might want that day and wont waste. It seems like the only thing he will eat is chicken. And he says chicken too...it sounds more like "Ji-ji" but he is smart and knows what it is. I tried tricking him into eating beef the other day so I told him it was chicken and he just looked at me and shook his head. Anyway...we always make sure to feed him whatever we eat at dinner because we don't want to get him in the habit of us catering to him specially, but it's difficult because he will usually only pick one thing from dinner, say green beans, and that's all he'll eat that meal. So, if anyone has any suggestions at all, that'd be greatly appreciated!

The fourth of July was like any other day. Daddy took Sam to the good ol' Bagdad parade in the morning, where apparently a fireman sprayed Sam directly in the face with a hose and Sam freaked out. (LOL...it's kind of funny, but it does irritate me). Then for lunch we went to the BBQ at the Firehouse and had BBQ beef sandwiches with the Johnson's. And that was it! No fireworks aloud in Bagdad this year so we didn't see or hear a single one. It's okay though...we needed a day just to relax!

We are FINALLY getting our butts in gear and getting our food storage together. We figure it's probably important if the prophets are always warning us to at every conference, right? And we don't have the excuse that we don't have any room for it anymore. So we stocked up on a bunch of canned foods and got two 55 gallon barrels for water. That's the the first step...now we have to order wheat, rice, beans, etc. from the church storehouse!

Not much else of concern to report for our little family, but Stewart, Dave's brother gets home from his mission on July 24! We wish really bad that we could go to Utah to see him and so that he can meet Sam, but it's just not going to be feasible. And then August will be a big month...not only are there good books coming out and good shows starting (not to mention to Olympics), but it will be our 5th anniversary, Sam will FINALLY be in nursery (I am counting down!), and most exciting of all, my little sissy will finally be having her baby boy, Aaron!!! Yay!!! I am VERY excited and am going to try to do everything in my power to come to Idaho in September for the blessing!

Not much else going on...just wanted to give everyone an update!
