Fun at Park!

Well, Sam and I's first day alone together was pretty.....lonely. And boring. The highlight of the day was when we got some lunch and went to the park and had a picnic! I actually had a really good time. I loved playing with Sam and being outside with him. He loves it outside. It was the perfect day for the park too! It was really hot, but sitting under the shade of a huge tree in the grass, it was PERFECT! Here are some pictyres of him on the swing and on the pony. The whole time we were there, especially on the equipment, he was going around and saying "weeeeeee, weeeeeee!" That's his new thing and it's so cute!
We saw a friend of ours there, Kim, with her two kids and their two new kittens and I wish I got a picture of it, but one of the kittens was following Sam around everywhere and it was adorable! That's it for now!

Loner for a week...

So I am really sad that Dave will be leaving me for a week. He leaves early in the morning to Minneapolis for a conference all week. I will miss him like crazy and will be so lonely with just me and Sam here! Sam will miss his dad so much too! He loves him so much! He thinks every man he see's is daddy and he gets so excited if he even see's a picture of him!

Anyway, after tomorrow morning, Sam will be seeing Grandma and Grandpa Meyers and his aunts before he even see's his daddy again! They are getting in next friday afternoon/night and daddy won't be home that night until about 11. We are so excited for them to come and hang out!!!!! They will be here a whole week too!

Also the same week they are here is girls camp for our ward and due to them being here and the fact that I have a tiny guy, I couldn't go. I am sooo bummed about it too. Every time we're all together planning for it I feel so sad I can't go and be a part of it. The group of girls are so much fun! They also got a really awesome camp director (Tiffany) that will make sure they'll have an awesome time!

So tonight is the once a year anticipated Bagdad Softball tournament that goes all night. We went for a little bit to watch the first game at 7pm because our good friend Christa was playing in it (Christa I bet your kids think you are the coolest mom!!) and then we came home and put Sam to bed and now Dave is back playing in his game. If I didn't have to stay home because of our sleeping boy, I'd be there cheering him on!

Memorial Day

Today was a perfect Memorial Day! We started off the morning by going golfing with Brand and Tiff, and actually it was just Brand and Dave golfing besides the few times Tiff and I would hit one of their balls. The golf course was packed because of the holiday which made it a little hard to play because it's so small! There was a lot of waiting and some one's ball came within a foot of hitting Tiff in the head! Sam's favorite part was driving crazy and fast in the golf cart. :)

Then later on this afternoon we went with them and their two girls, Cassy and Helen, and two of the Shultz girls, Naomi and Maggie, to a camp ground near by and BBQed hot dogs, brats, corn, squash, zucchini, and pineapple. Yum! Sam's least favorite part of it (and mine, due to his non-stop screaming) was when I had to hold him and plug his ears from the shooting. I'll explain...we found a full, unopened beer bottle, and Dave starting teasing about how we should throw it up in the air and try to shoot it (both Brand and Dave had their guns on them). It turned into a bet - Dave saying Brand couldn't do it, and Brand saying he knew he could. Anyway, we hiked a ways out to make sure we were away from people (this is why in the first picture we're walking and Tiff has a bottle of beer in her hand). When we got there everyone put in ear plugs (thanks to being with two Safety Pros), except Sam of course. So I had to physically plug his ears with each shot, and Sam HATED it. He was so upset with me. But once we hiked back to "camp" and ate, he was as happy as a camper (ha ha).

Sam is giving Brand a high-five, but you can't really tell...

Anyway, that's the main highlights of our day. It was so nice to have Dave home and hang out as a family!

So Disappointed!

So, first of all, I want to mention that I am soooo bummed. I was going to blog earlier in the week, bragging about how excited I was that we officially decided to go on a cruise during Christmas with Dave's family, but I'm glad I didn't because now I don't think it's going to happen. We found out they won't let anyone go who is over 24 weeks along in pregnancy go, and that means I couldn't get pregnant before the middle of July...and I doubt that's going to happen. We have been trying for a while now and there is a HUGE chance we will be by then...so the dilemma is, do we risk losing around $800 if we do get pregnant and can't go? (it's something we have to decide now because the tickets are booking FAST) AAARRRGGGGHHH! It sucks because I have wanted to go on one for forever and was SO excited. And if we tell our families just to book it without us and then find out in a couple months we could have gone because I didn't get prego, I will be even more sad!

Anyway....enough venting on that subject....I'll keep everyone updated with what we decided....but any advice would be helpful!

We had a fun afternoon today! After church (which was DEAD because of Memorial Day weekend) we went and had a BBQ at Jenny's house with Brand and Tiff and two of their kids and Patrick and his 2 kids (and Jenny, of course). The food and conversation was great and I got to play Wii for the first time and I just have to say I'm hooked! It was so fun! I'm not usually a fan of video games, but this isn't like normal video games....my arm actually hurts from playing baseball! It was so much fun! I don't want to buy one though because I'd be worried I'd get addicted and just play it all day long while I'm home with Sam!

Service Project

Today the young women came over to our house to finish the service project we're doing for camp. We are making ABC quiet books for the missionaries to give to families with small children who they are teaching the discussions to. They turned out great and each one is creative and different. There are only 8 girls going to camp (only 3 are members), therefor only 8 books were made. But for Bagdad, that's pretty good!

So, this next picture is just another display of the disgusting insect life in Arizona. This beetle, or whatever it was, was HUGE! It was the size of a baby mouse or something. It was stuck in between the windshield and the hood on Dave's car. Sick, huh?

I wanted to give a quick shout out to our favorite shows...the House season finale was on last night and I just wanted to say that show rocks! It seems to get better every episode and the writers are just so good! We love it! Anyway, I'm sad to say that my next favorite show right now, American Idol, will be coming to an end tomorrow night. Tonight both Daves perform for the last time (as far as voting is concerned) and for the first time ever I think I am fine with either one of them winning. I like them both!

Back to real life now... Lastly, as always, I just wanted to post a few pics of Sam. He was laughing so hard at Daddy last night during dinner time. Then he was trying to take off his bib.

Success!

P.S. I Love You

I just wanted to make a movie recommendation. Last night Dave and I watched one of the best movies I have seen in a long time - horribly sad, but great. The best kind of movies, in my opinion, are ones that make you feel true raw emotion, and this one really hit it. It was so sad (I bawled like a baby), so cute, and funny. I usually don't like Hilary Swank either, but she was excellent in this movie (and I don't even have to mention that Gerard Butlar was wonderful :). The whole cast was good. Anyway, if you want to watch a really deep, sad, but feel good, movie, I recommend this one!

Father and Sons Part II

So I thought I'd post some pictures from the Father and Sons campout Dave and Sam went on this weekend. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as I had hoped. Sam is just too little. He did enjoy himself when he wasn't crying and upset, Dave said. He had fun playing in the sand and with his friend, Colter, but the sleeping was rough and since he was so little daddy couldn't do much. He pretty much just chased him around the whole time. He had to watch him like a hawk, and the one time he didn't, he bonked his head pretty hard on the grill. Not only that, but there was water close by and he kept trying to get into the fire. Dave says it would have been better if I was there because he would have been able to "play" with everyone and we could watch Sam in shifts. I guess they went cliff jumping and stuff and he felt bummed because he couldn't participate. I think it's official that Dave has adopted his uncle Rick's rule that no father and sons campout until you are potty trained! Anyway, I put some pictures of it at the end of the post.

During the father and sons, some friends of mine in the ward got together at Lydia Hulse's house for a girls night (besides the fact that Roderick, Will, and Logan were there - their dad's were smart enough not to take them because they were so young!). It was way fun. Lydia and Destiny made wonderful homemade pizza and we watched the two most chick-flick movies you can watch - Always and While You Were Sleeping - classics! It was so fun not to have a commitment that night and have to worry about getting home to put Sam to bed. It was also nice to sleep in!

I just wanted to mention that Sam is the cutest! He learned something new last night that he loves to do now. I was doing the dishes and I turned around to find him twirling around in circles and then falling on the floor to make himself dizzy. He loves it! He was doing it all night last night. I don't know why he thought to do it or where he picked it up from, but it's so cute!

Well, not much else to say...enjoy the pics!

Father and Sons

Well, though I am nervous and will probably worry the whole time, due to the fact that it will be the first night away from my baby, I am so excited that Dave and Sam are going on their first Father and Sons camp out tonight! Dave is a little nervous because Sam is so young, so I had to really try to talk him into it (thanks to the help of some ward members), but he is excited to spend time with his boy and I think it will be a great experience for them both!

And of course, I am looking forward to having a morning to sleep in! Whoo hoo!!! All the women are getting together tonight for a girls night out also, which will be fun too! My luck, I wont be able to sleep in because it'll be so weird to not be woken up by Sam. And I'll probably worry the whole time. Anyway...I will report on that after it's done.

I was reading every one's blogs and realized everyone reported on their Mother's days except me. How sad is it that it wasn't big enough of a deal for me to remember to write about it? :) Just kidding...it was a big deal, it's just that nothing extravagant happened. We went to church (I wish it wasn't so early so that I could have slept in on Mother's Day, but oh well) and we got bath salts from the Primary and flowers from...well, I don't know from exactly who. We came home and lounged and relaxed and Dave made steaks for dinner! Yum! Then the best part was when Sam walked into the bedroom with a card in his hands that he wrote in and everything. He also got me a gift card to Khol's, but it wasn't much because he had to save up all year for it. :)

I wanted to also mention that I think we might be going on a cruise during the week of Christmas with Dave's family...MIGHT is the key word. We still aren't sure, but we are leaning pretty heavily towards it. I am SOOO excited!!! That is, if we do decide to go, of course. :)

That's it for now!

Six Random Things...

Well, I've officially been tagged, so now you get to hear me ramble on about six random things that make up who I am. Let me think...

1. I actually love to read, which might come as a surprise to those of you who knew me in my high school days. I used to hate reading, for some reason, but something changed over the last few years or so and now I thoroughly enjoy it. I love getting lost in a good book or reading about something interesting. If anyone has any recommendations on some good reads, I'd love to hear it!

2. Well, following my first random fact, I usually love reading in my free time, but lately I haven't taken the time to do that, due to my second random fact: I love to write, which may also come as a surprise to some people. I've always loved writing and reading poetry but most recently I have expanded that and can't get enough. To what seems like no control of my own, I'm always thinking about different things that would make a good novel and stewing up random story plots in my mind. So lately, that has been what has occupied most of my free time.

3. Though I am horribly out of shape, and hate trying to get motivated to do it, I actually love working out...once I start. :) In the winter when we lived in Rexburg I did Tae Bo every single morning and started getting into good shape, but moving destroyed the habit. So, I have recently started up again and I am loving it! I love Tae Bo!

4. As much as I wouldn't want to admit this to my church leaders, I secretly love teaching in church. I know, it's crazy. I've never told anyone this, as it is a recent development. I look forward to my week to teach in young women's and when we moved here the two callings I was secretly hoping for was either in the young women's or a teacher in Relief Society.

5. I am the HUGEST organizational freak. I have been called OCD by my fellow co-workers in the past, so if you have ever worked with me you know. I like things done a certain way (my way) and I have certain patterns I go about when doing certain things. You should see my calendar...each day is filled with writing because I have to make "to do" lists so that I don't go crazy and feel somewhat like I have control of things. I like being able to cross something off the list once I've done it....weird, I know. It's hard for me to show someone else how to do something or accept help from someone because I like things done my way and I feel that by the time I have explained it to them, the way I want or need it done, I could have accomplished it myself. I know, it's awful and prideful and I need to work on that, but I've always been that way. Unfortunately, I think Sam has gotten that from me, due to the fact that most of the time he prefers organizing his toys over playing with them.

6. This last one might be a little weird, but that's why their random facts, right? My brother is a bit of a conspiracy theorist (he doesn't like that phrase, because they aren't just theories to him :) and I love to hear about all of them. Though they are far fetched and I don't know if I necessarily believe them all, I have an open mind and I love to hear them. I guess it just intrigues me!

Okay, now that I have taken the time for this I am now tagging Kadie, Nicole, Jillian/Steve (I refer to you guys as one because it's whoever updates your blog next), Katie, Erin, and Christa...you're all it!

I'm back!

Well, we're back safe and sound from Colorado! It was so good to go back home and be with family! Even though I was ready to be in our own beds (Sam was too) and see my husband again, it always feels so empty when I leave family again! And as soon as we flew down into the Denver area I had a smile on my face...I didn't realize until I was there how much I miss it and hope we end up back there some day!

Anyway, Sam did AMAZING on the plane! I was expecting to have to use benedril or something, but as soon as we took off, both on the way there and home, he was out and didn't wake up until the end of the flight! I had people telling me constantly how good of a baby he is! It was great!

John and Micha's wedding was so simple and beautiful and I loved it! They both were glowing and so happy and I am so happy for them! Micha is such a great addition to the family...and she looked beautiful! I loved the sealing because it made me think of mine and Dave's and helped me realize how incredibly blessed I am!

It was so good to see Cindi all big and prego too! She looked so cute! And I got to feel little Aaron kicking which was wonderful! (Those of you who are my sisters can picture me saying that last sentence in our trademark voice). It's hard to believe that the next time I see her she will have little Aaron by then! Crazy!

Unfortunately, the day I left was Jessica's prom, which I would have loved to be there for (to see her off and stuff, I mean). But I did get to go with her to get some things for it and when she got her nails done on Saturday morning. I had such a good time with her and with everyone!

This is Jessica tending to her sun burnt legs...I guess that's what you get for ditching class!

Other than the above things I mentioned, nothing too exciting went on while we were there...just a lot spending time together. It was also so good to see my brother again. It feels like it has been forever! And I loved hanging out with him and Leslie and their unbelievably ADORABLE girls. They were so cute!

It was funny because Ayla (Leslie and Brian's youngest - around Sam's age) kept trying to be a typical girl and hug Sam, and Sam was a typical boy - dodging all her hugs every chance he could. Here's a picture of her sneaking in a hug and a kiss. :)

Sam did learn some new words and things while we were there, which was so fun and wonderful, even though Dave was bummed he missed them. But Sam is doing new things every day that he's bound to miss something!

Speaking of Sam, he had his 15 month check up and shots yesterday and is doing extremely well! So far, he hasn't had a reaction to the shots at all. But then again, it has only been a little over 24 hours so we'll see... He is in the 75th% for height and head size and still only in the 20th% for weight. Which means he is growing, but not extremely fast. He is a tall skinny healthy boy! His new favorite thing to do while we are at the store is go up to every random person he sees and say "hi!" and then run away. He's definitely not shy.

That's it for now!

Ode to Old Friends

First off, I just want to say Amen to Chrissy's American Idol Blurb! Who is still voting for Jason Castro?!? Though it was definately Brooke's time to go (bless her heart), I would have rather seen him leave...and he wasn't even in the bottom two! I guess there are people I feel this way about every year, but it doesn't make it any easier. Whew...okay, I'm done venting on American Idol.

I don't really have much news to post other than I am leaving Saturday to Colorado with Sam...yay! I'm way excited, but I am sad to be leaving my husband here all alone. Oh, I'm sure he'll love it at first (who wouldn't), but he will miss his boy so much! And Sam will miss him too.

Lastly, I was going through some of our old wedding photos and I got caught reminiscing about "old times" and how life seemed so much simpler back then. It's crazy to me how we've all changed so much since then and all the new places we're at in our lives! I wanted to post a couple pictures...I love and miss you all!

I love the helmet hair, Cindi...

And lastly, a little disturbing one...
